Active Votes
Every ve(3,3) protocol records whether a veNFT has voted. On some protocols that vote changes what can be done with the position. It can block a sale, pause it for two hours around the weekly epoch flip, or travel with the position to its new owner. veX reads the vote state from the chain and tells you before you sign anything.
The vote does not clear by itself. It stays until the owner resets it or votes again, and there are positions on Aerodrome and Thena still marked as voted from 2023. Waiting for the next epoch changes nothing on its own; someone has to reset.
By protocol
| Protocol | Selling a voted position | After buying a voted position | Who clears the vote, and when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thena | Not possible until reset | No effect | The seller, at any time. Resetting in the same week as the vote forfeits that week's bribes. |
| Hybra | Not possible until reset | No effect | The seller, only from the next epoch and only inside the vote window (Thursday 01:00 to Wednesday 23:00 UTC). |
| Supernova | Not possible until reset | No effect | The seller, only from the next epoch and not in the first hour after the flip. |
| Aerodrome, Topaz, UP33 | Works | The vote comes with it. You can vote, claim, extend and resell. You cannot withdraw or merge until it is reset. | The buyer. Immediately if the seller's last vote was in an earlier week, otherwise from Thursday 01:00 UTC. Voting with the position also clears it. |
| Nest, Alandale | Works, except from Wednesday 23:00 to Thursday 01:00 UTC each week | Clean. The sale resets the vote. | Automatic on transfer. The seller forfeits that week's bribes. |
| Kittenswap, Hydrex, ApeBond, Lynex | Works | No restriction | Nothing to clear |
On Thena, Hybra and Supernova a position attached to a gauge is blocked in the same way as a voted one.
What you will see on veX
In the collection grid, a listing with a live vote carries a badge. "Seller must reset vote" appears on Thena, Hybra and Supernova listings; the card is dimmed and the listing cannot be bought until the seller resets. "Paused: epoch flip" appears on Nest and Alandale listings during the two hours around the flip, and the listing reopens at Thursday 01:00 UTC. "Vote active" appears on Aerodrome, Topaz and UP33 listings, which can be bought; the note in the modal explains what you take on.
When you open a listing, veX reads the vote state from the chain at that moment and shows a notice with the same wording. On a blocked listing the Buy button is disabled. On an Aerodrome, Topaz or UP33 listing the notice tells you what you will need to do after buying.
When you list, veX checks the position before the approve prompt. On Thena, Hybra and Supernova a voted position cannot be listed until you reset it. On Nest and Alandale you are warned that the sale will reset the vote and forfeit this week's bribes.
In your dashboard, a position with a live vote on Thena, Hybra, Supernova, Aerodrome, Topaz or UP33 has a Reset vote button under its List or Delist button.
Resetting a vote on veX
The Reset vote button calls the protocol's Voter from veX in one transaction, sent from the wallet that owns the position. A listed position is still in your wallet, because listing only grants an approval, so you can reset it while it is listed. The listing becomes buyable as soon as the transaction confirms. You do not need to delist.
veX simulates the reset before sending it. If the protocol will not accept the reset yet, the button says when it will, for example "Reset from Thu 01:00 UTC", instead of letting you pay for a transaction that reverts. The usual reasons are:
- The vote was cast this epoch. Most protocols only accept a reset in a later epoch than the vote.
- It is the first hour after the epoch flip (Thursday 00:00 to 01:00 UTC), when the Voters are closed.
- On Hybra, it is the last hour before the flip.
Thena is the exception and accepts a reset at any time. A reset in the same week as the vote withdraws the position from that week's bribe pools, so the button warns you about this on Thena. On the other protocols the reset can only happen the following week, by which point those rewards are already earned, so there is nothing to warn about.
After buying an Aerodrome, Topaz or UP33 position
You own the position, and the seller's vote flag came with it. That blocks two things: withdrawing the tokens once the lock ends, and merging this veNFT into another one. Everything else works. Reset it from your dashboard when the Voter allows, or vote with it, since a fresh vote replaces the old one.
The transfer guards, the epoch gates and the bribe forfeits are in the protocols' own contracts and apply wherever these veNFTs are traded. veX reads them and shows you the consequences before you sign.
