Buying a veNFT

Buy verified veNFTs at a discount with full on-chain settlement. Every listing is non-custodial: the seller retains ownership until your purchase completes atomically.

Step-by-Step

1. Connect Your Wallet

  1. Visit ve.exchange
  2. Click Connect Wallet and select your provider
  3. Switch to the correct network for the veNFT you want:
    • Base: veAERO, veHYDX
    • BNB Chain: veTHE, veABOND
    • Linea: veLYNX
    • HyperEVM: veKITTEN, veHYBRA, veNEST
    • Ethereum: veNOVA
    • Robinhood Chain: veUP

2. Browse & Filter

Explore listings across all protocols. Filter by protocol or chain, then sort by discount, price, locked amount, unlock date, or newest. Grid and table views are both available, and you can search a collection by token ID.

3. Evaluate the Listing

Click any veNFT to see full details:

  • Lock amount: How many tokens are locked
  • Lock period: Time until unlock
  • Discount %: Discount to current locked value
  • Voting power: Governance power you'll receive
  • Unclaimed rebases: Bonus value included with purchase
  • Vote state: Whether the position has a live vote, and what that means on this protocol

Before buying, consider:

  • Is the discount fair compared to similar listings?
  • Does the lock period work for your timeline?
  • What's the weekly earning potential from fees + bribes?
  • Are there unclaimed rebases adding extra value (can be 5–15%)?

4. Choose Payment Method

Direct payment: Pay in the listing's token (the seller picks it when listing: a stablecoin, the chain's native token, or the protocol token). Lower gas.

Zap: Pay with other tokens you already hold. veX swaps and completes the purchase in one transaction. See Zap payments for how it works and where it's available.

5. Confirm Purchase

  1. Review: veNFT details, total cost, gas estimate
  2. Click Buy Now and confirm in your wallet
  3. Wait for confirmation (usually 5–30 seconds)

The veNFT is now in your wallet. Sales are final once confirmed.

Listings with an active vote

Some protocols block or change a sale while the position has a live vote. veX reads the vote from the chain when you open a listing and shows a notice above the Buy button.

A listing marked "Seller must reset vote" is on Thena, Hybra or Supernova and cannot be bought until the seller resets. The Buy button is disabled. The listing works again as soon as the seller resets, which is often the same day.

A listing marked "Paused: epoch flip" is on Nest or Alandale. Transfers of voted positions pause for the hour either side of the weekly flip, so Buy is disabled from Wednesday 23:00 to Thursday 01:00 UTC and works again after that.

A listing marked "Vote active" on Aerodrome, Topaz or UP33 can be bought. The seller's vote comes with the position. You can vote, claim, extend and resell it, but you cannot withdraw the tokens or merge it into another veNFT until you reset the vote from your dashboard. Most of the time the reset works immediately; if the seller voted this week it works from Thursday 01:00 UTC. See the Active Votes page.

After Purchase

Start earning immediately:

  1. Vote on the next epoch (typically Thursdays) to direct emissions
  2. Earn trading fees from pools you vote for
  3. Collect bribes from protocols seeking liquidity
  4. Claim any unclaimed rebases on the protocol's site

Ongoing: Vote weekly for optimal returns. Missing an epoch means missing that week's fees and bribes.

Exit anytime: You can relist your veNFT on veX whenever you want.

Zap Tips

Zap lets you buy with tokens you already hold: veX swaps to the seller's payment token and completes the purchase in one transaction. Full guide: Zap payments.

  • The quote includes a fixed 1% slippage buffer; if the market moves beyond it, the transaction reverts safely and you can re-quote
  • Slightly more gas than direct payment, but still cheaper than a manual swap + purchase
  • The lightning icon next to a payment token means that route is a zap

Buying Strategies

Deep discount hunting: Filter by highest discount, target 40–60% off. Best for long-term holders who can wait for unlock.

Yield farming: Focus on high bribe weeks and active protocols. Calculate weekly fee + bribe APR before buying. Requires weekly voting.

Rebase arbitrage: Find positions with large unclaimed rebases, buy, claim, and relist. Active strategy, higher risk.

Conviction plays: Buy protocols you believe in during market dips. Hold through volatility, vote consistently, compound over time.
